Pinnaclife Mood Support with Olivamine10

Formulated by Dr. Darlene McCord

Overview

The combination of Olivamine10 with select vitamins, minerals, and natural products such as curcumin, B-12, magnesium, and Vitamin D safely promotes improved mood. Olivamine10, invented by Dr. Darlene McCord, is a proven antioxidant blend, found exclusively in all Pinnaclife products, that protects against free radicals that lead to inflammation and disease.

Background

Depression and mood disorders are extremely common, and a large portion of pharmaceutical research and sales is dedicated to these diagnoses. These are tricky conditions to treat because there are so many factors that can play into them - from biochemical imbalances to lifestyle and social issues. One of the unfortunate downfalls of pharmaceutical approaches to mood disorders is that you often times don't know how a patient will respond until you try them on the medication for a couple of months. We see constant dose adjustments, changes in therapy, duplicative therapies - all of which is expensive and confusing to the patient. Throughout the entire process, the patient experiences any number of undesirable side effects including anxiety, worsened depression, loss of libido, insomnia/somnolence, constipation/diarrhea, loss/gain in appetite or weight, etc, etc. We frequently see more drugs added to treat these side effects because they make the patient feel worse than they did to start with. This is a slippery slope that frequently results in an overmedicated patient that is still suffering - physically, mentally, and financially. Typically, this does not help to improve their mood!

Which patients will benefit the most?

  • Failure/tolerance to current psychotropic therapy
  • Too many risk factors for use of other psychotropics
  • Elderly, fall risk, bleed risk, confusion/dementia
  • Increased toxin exposure
  • Pain condition associated with mood disorder
  • History of substance abuse/high addiction potential
  • Desire to avoid powerful psychotropic pharmaceuticals
  • Adjunct to therapy (under close physician supervision)
  • Persons with high amounts of stress

Benefits

Neurologist Dr. Jay Lombard, in his book The Brain Wellness Plan, defines three approaches to preventing neurological problems:

  1. reduce inflammatory activity
  2. increase mitochondrial activity
  3. rebalance neurotransmitter levels

Pinnaclife Mood Support, created by Dr. Darlene McCord, uses natural products that address each of these areas to promote optimum neuronal health. This leaves your patients with a clear mind free of the "cognitive fog" that can often distract people and depress their mood. A sharper mind allows for better concentration and improved cognition - which in turn provide for a better day and better mood! Some studies have shown added benefits when curcumin is added to seratonergic and dopaminergic medications. This synergy could potentially be through inhibition of Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) A and B, so patients using prescription antidepressants should be monitored closely by their physician.

Features and Functions

  • Olivamine10, formulated by Dr. Darlene McCord, contains a synergistic blend of ingredients in ratios shown to provide maximum benefit to natural antioxidant support which protects neurons from free radical damage and improves synaptic signaling.
  • Turmeric Cavamax (curcumin) has been shown to promote brain health by enhancing neuronal function and preventing neuronal damage. This is accomplished both by enhancing genetic expression and neuronal signaling pathways and by reducing oxidative damage during times of increased metabolism and stress. Research suggests that curcumin acts on seratonin and dopamine pathways, but does not affect noraderenergic pathways.
  • Vitamin D is naturally produced in the skin by sunlight during the summer months and deficiency is thought to contribute to seasonal affective disorder. There are more good reasons to supplement Vitamin D than can possibly be listed here!
  • Magnesium works together with B Vitamins in a multitude of enzymatic processes associated with neuronal signal transmission. Many people are deficient in magnesium due to inadequate dietary intake, use of acid lowering agents (PPI's), and overconsumption of calcium which can deplete magnesium. Magnesium replenishment has been shown to have calming and relaxing effects on blood vessels, muscles, and mind.
  • Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) has been shown to improve pain symptoms which are commonly associated with and contribute

Pinnaclife Sleep Support with Olivamine10

Formulated by Dr. Darlene McCord

Overview

The combination of Olivamine10, formulated by Dr. Darlene McCord, with select vitamins, minerals, and natural products such as curcumin and melatonin provides an effective non-addictive supplement that promotes restful sleep. Olivamine10 is a proven antioxidant blend, found exclusively in all Pinnaclife products, that protects against free radicals that lead to inflammation and disease.

Background

Why use natural products for sleep? Many of the pharmaceutical products (both Rx and OTC) used for sleep disorders have addictive properties, develop tolerance, and/ or do not always promote normal REM cycles meaning people still feel tired after waking. Common agents include antihistamines, sedative hypnotics, benzodiazepines, and tricyclic antidepressants. Most of these are only indicated for short term use and are considered dangerous or inappropriate for use in the elderly (age >65). This is due to the increased risk of adverse side effects including confusion/mental effects, excess sedation, addiction, and falls. There is additional concern as patients will often self-adjust their therapy by combining different medications and increasing their doses without the knowledge of their prescribers - an extremely dangerous practice!

While working as a community pharmacist, I was also seeing a large number of patients requiring additional therapies to increase energy and concentration during the daytime. This came in the form of energy drinks, caffeine consumption, and even the addition of stimulants such as amphetamines. This is a "chicken or the egg" type of debate that I can only begin to address here!

Which patients will benefit the most?

  • History of insomnia or restless sleep
  • History of substance abuse/high addiction potential
  • Failure/tolerance to current sleep therapy
  • Too many risk factors for use of other sleep aids
  • Elderly, fall risk, bleed risk, confusion/dementia
  • Already practicing good sleep hygiene
  • Irregular work schedules, 3rd shifters, jet lag
  • Increased toxin exposure
  • Inflammatory pain condition

Quality First: All Pinnaclife products are manufactured in the USA at an FDA approved cGMP facility that meets or exceeds all FDA standards. All Products are further verified by an independent third party ISO:9001 cGLP laboratory to ensure consistency in quality, purity, potency, and absence of potential toxins.

Benefits

Unlike most Rx and OTC sleep aids, the ingredients in Pinnaclife Sleep Support, created by Dr. Darlene McCord, can be safely used for long periods of time without the risk of addiction or toxicity. The natural ingredients help to support the biochemistry behind normal sleep processes and restore the circadian rhythm. It avoids being over sedating or causing hangover effects in the morning, meaning your patients wake up feeling more alert and well rested. This can help to decrease pill burden for your patient, which not only improves the safety and efficacy of their therapy, but reduces cost and improves quality of life. The addition of magnesium and Vitamin D can help to address these extremely common deficiencies, which has countless health benefits that go far beyond improving sleep. The same can be said for curcumin which is gaining substantial evidence as a potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even anti-neoplastic agent.

Features and Functions

  • Olivamine10, created by Dr. Darlene McCord, contains a synergistic blend of ingredients in ratios shown to provide maximum benefit to natural liver detoxification and antioxidant support.
  • Magnesium is a counter-ion to calcium, meaning they have opposing effects. While calcium tends to be more stimulating, magnesium has a relaxing effect. Many people are deficient in magnesium due to inadequate dietary intake, use of acid lowering agents (PPI's), and overconsumption of calcium which can deplete magnesium. Epsom salt baths help people to relax because they are providing magnesium through the skin.
  • Turmeric Cavamax (curcumin) has anti-inflammatory properties similar to those of NSAIDs. This is due to direct effect on anti-inflammatory pathways (NF-kB, COX-2, etc.) and it's antioxidant capabilities which decrease free radical damage. Many patients have trouble sleeping as a result of inflammatory pain and curcumin can safely give them relief.
  • Melatonin is produced naturally by the body from the amino acid L-tryptophan and it promotes regular sleep cycles (circadian rhythms). Studies indicate that doses of 0.3 - 2 mg taken around the same time each night, about 30-60 min. before bedtime, have been effective in improving restful sleep in a variety of patient populations.
  • Vitamin D is naturally produced by sunlight - and bright light is strongly tied into regulating normal circadian rhythms. There are more good reasons to supplement Vitamin D than can possibly be listed here!
